Environmental, Health & Safety Business Partner

Are you an NEBOSH qualified officer who has experience working in the automotive industry?

The NEBOSH qualified Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all Environmental, Health, Safety & Welfare legislation including any Group and site – specific requirements are implemented, maintained and adhered to.

To be responsible for ensuring that all Environmental, Health, Safety procedures, including the all the policies are implemented and adhered to by completing site EHS inspections.

Will be required to maintain all the elements of the HS&E system requirements, these will include:

Accident stats, Risk / CoSHH assessments, SSOW

Required to have excellent communication skills and be able proactively communicate HS&E related issues through all levels of the business, assisting to coach and motivate employees with regards to HSE.

You must have the capacity to bring logical thought processes and impartiality to solve practical problems and assist in Identifying improvement activities throughout the site, adding value and continuous improvements

· You must have the ability to work unsupervised, use initiative and manage your own time within a busy fast paced environment

Although primarily based at your designated site, this position will also involve travelling to other Sertec sites in the UK to complete system ISO audits and to attend EHS meetings when required.

Potential candidates will need to have a Health & Safety qualification, NEBOSH as a minimum, and with experience of handling administration and documentation is essential, as the role will involve being responsible for maintaining records and updating documentation within the HS&E database

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • To take a proactive role in providing Managers and Supervisors with specialist advice, support and guidance regarding H&S and Environmental issues, legal & other requirements
  • To play a major role in raising and maintaining awareness of H&S / Environmental issues by being active and evident out on the shop floor, leading by example and challenging people in situations that are a cause for concern
  • Chair the Health, Safety & Environmental Committee meetings
  • To carry out relevant procedural system audits, and to report the findings to the EHS Officer
  • To Implement & maintain all the requirements of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Standards which Include:
  • Implement Risk & CoSHH Assessments & SSOW for all activities
  • To lead Accident / Near Miss reporting and investigations, suggest remedial actions and monitor progress. Collate accident statistics for SBL and lead proactive initiatives to reduce accidents and improve the Health, Safety and welfare of all employees.
  • Collate all agreed / required Company statistics and KPI’s pertaining to H&S and Environmental issues.
  • Toolbox Talks in H&S related subjects
  • Carry out HS&E Inductions for new employees / contractors.
  • To undertake, control and review Risk Assessments
  • Maintain the H&S and Environmental Policy
  • To work closely with Project Teams and Production personnel as and where necessary to develop appropriate standards of ‘safe systems’ for new projects / processes / machinery etc. based on current and potential legislation using IESHR document.
  • Co-ordinate Fire alarm testing / Fire Drills / report on findings and carry out remedial actions.
  • Co-ordinate regular Noise Surveys and take appropriate actions.
  • Control of Contractors to include Inductions / Procedures / Safe Systems etc.
  • Control First Aid procedures and facilities / oversee ordering of First Aid consumables
  • Interface with various regulatory bodies such as Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities and Fire Services etc. As and when necessary.
  • Recording of incidents and accidents and producing statistics;
  • Producing management reports, newsletters and bulletins;
  • Managing and organising the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. oils;
  • Assist in the management of the provision of waste services and maintain records
  • Collating packaging details consumed throughout the site for compliance to the Waste Packaging Regulations
  • Full Driving Licence is mandatory for this position

Health and Safety Supervisor

BE Recruitment are working with a leading Manufacturing company, based in Birmingham, and they are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Supervisor to join their existing team. This is a permanent role from day 1 and is not agency work.

Day to day duties will include:

Implement Risk & CoSHH Assessments & SSOW for all activities.

Carry out HS&E Inductions for new employees / contractors.

Recording of incidents and accidents and producing statistics.

Interface with various regulatory bodies such as Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities and Fire Services etc. As and when necessary.

Hours of work/Pay rate:

You will be working 07.00 to 16.00 Monday to Friday and you will be paid 36,000 per annum.

Role requirements:

You must hold a NEBOSH qualification.

You must hold a full driving licence.
