Installation Engineer Labourer

Installation Engineer Labourer Required!

Reports to:
Installation Engineering Manager

Job Summary:
To support installation engineers in the setup, installation, and maintenance of engineering systems and equipment. Tasks involve manual labour, use of hand tools and safe manoeuvring of materials, and adhering to health and safety guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assistance in Installation:

    • Support installation engineering manager in the installation and maintenance of systems.
    • Handle, position and fit materials, fixtures, and components for installation.
    • Assemble and dismantle basic structures or scaffolding as needed.
  2. Material Handling:

    • Load, unload, and move materials and tools to and from the work site.
    • Ensure proper storage and maintenance of tools and materials.
  3. Site Preparation:

    • Prepare the work area by cleaning, setting up equipment, and laying out tools.
    • Assist in the setup of temporary structures and barriers.
  4. Tool and Equipment Handling:

    • Operate basic tools and machinery under supervision.
    • Perform routine checks and maintenance on tools and equipment.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and site procedures.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor.
  6. General Duties:

    • Perform manual labour tasks, such as lifting or moving heavy objects.
    • Assist in the cleanup and disposal of waste materials.
    • Support other site activities as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a labouring, construction or engineering role is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Basic understanding of engineering or construction practices.
    • Ability to use hand tools and operate machinery.
    • Good physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour.
  • Qualifications:
    • CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is required.
    • Training in manual handling and basic health and safety.
    • Full Clean UK driving licence (desirable)
    • Full UK passport
    • Willing to undertake National security vetting to SC.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Reliability and punctuality.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
    • Willingness to follow instructions and learn on the job.
    • A willingness to travel and be away from home for long periods.

Work Environment:

  • Some office-based time with regular site visits.
  • Regular periods of working away and staying in accommodation near to installation sites for a number of weeks at a time.
  • Some overseas travel is expected.
  • Travel to client sites and project locations as required.
  • Hours: Full-time, may involve early starts, overtime, and weekend work depending on project requirements.

Paint Sprayer

Duties to be performed:

  • To perform paint spraying activities in line with the IATF 16949 quality standards.
  • To ensure that all parts are prepared, jigged and thoroughly cleaned prior to painting.
  • To mix and filter all paint materials to the paint suppliers specified TDS.
  • To document and verify all mixed paint materials are to the specified TDS IE: Part number, batch number, mix ratio, viscosity, temperature, filtration, PH value etc.
  • To have the ability of applying primers, basecoats, mono-coats and clearcoat to achieve the correct adhesion, colour, wave scan, Matt & Gloss levels and recommended DFT.
  • All paint stocks are well organized via the FIFO system to avoid any obsolete materials and colour mis matches.
  • To be able to strip, clean and maintain all paint application equipment.
  • Have knowledge of plant operational procedures including oven tracing for full curing.
  • To maintain high levels of 5s housekeeping practices at all times throughout the paint facility.
  • To always adhere to STC H&S policies to protect yourself and all other employees.
  • To always be pro-active to support your fellow team members.
  • To show good initiative for continuous improvements and driving down costs within the technical department.
  • To assist the technical department in all required activities, request by the Technical Manager to support business needs.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • To be able to perform this position effectively you must have at least 5 years’ experience preferably within the paint manufacturing industry.
  • Must have basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant training as and when required to further your skill base.
  • UK driving licence
